Image
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo rocked weird outfit as he picked his son from school on a fancy dress day. The 32-year-old superstar was joined by his friends in similar outfits as they made way to Cristiano Junior’s school school. The six-year-old was also spotted wearing same outfits as they strolled from the back of the school to the parking lot. Ronaldo wore a cape on his back and pulled on a white and black mask while his pals chose different colours as the Portuguese continues to spend quality time with his son after having a quiet birthday celebration with his mother and son. The former Manchester United star earlier made the news for his kind gestures to save 80 dogs in his native Portugal; Ronaldo sent his shirts to be auctioned off to salvage a likely closure.

Tevez signs for Shanghai Shenhua

Argentina’s former Manchester United and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has signed for Shanghai Shenhua in the latest big-money Chinese deal, the club said Thursday. The acquisition of the 32-year-old from Buenos Aires side Boca Juniors will “greatly enhance” the team’s front line, Shenhua said on a verified social media account. “The club looks forward to Tevez helping Greenland Shenhua attack cities and strike stockades in Asian and domestic matches and contribute to more exciting games for fans,” it said, calling him “the most outstanding striker in Argentina’s history”. It did not put a value on the transaction, but Argentine media previously reported Tevez would make $84 million over two years under the contract — 20 times his previous earnings. In a statement Boca thanked Tevez, who was on his second spell with the club, scoring 25 goals in 56 matches, including a double in a 4-2 Clasico victory over their bitter rivals River Plate earlier this month Boca wished him good lu...

Pep Guardiola Admits It Will Be Tough To Stop Chelsea

Image
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has admitted it will be difficult stopping the league leaders, Chelsea from winning the league. Chelsea beat Bournemouth 3-0 on boxing day to extend their winning streak to 12 games and opening up a 7 point lead at the top of the table. Manchester City moved to second on the Premier League log after beating Hull City 3-0 and in his post-match conference, Guardiola suggested that Chelsea competing on just one front makes them favorites. “We have played seven more than [Chelsea], which is why it will be tough,” said Guardiola. “Liverpool went so close [to the title] one year because they had one game a week and last year, for Leicester, it happened the same. “This time Chelsea and Liverpool are the ones.” “Sometimes you play before Chelsea, sometimes later – but it doesn’t matter when one team has won 12 in a row,” added Guardiola. “It’s like a final for us if you want to be there until the end of the season. “But football is unpredictable. We have...

I contemplated suicide over FIFA suspension – Eboue

Ex-Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has told the Daily Telegraph his one-year ban from football following a contractual dispute with a former agent has left him feeling suicidal. Eboue, 33, was suspended by FIFA from all football activities in March due to the disagreement with his representative and immediately had his contract with Sunderland terminated despite having signed for the club earlier in the month. Since then the former Ivory Coast international has been restricted to training with a semi-professional player he met in London in a bid to stay fit while he serves his ban. Even once Eboue’s ban is served, however, he may still not be permitted to return to football activity until he has settled a debt with his old agent Sebastien Boisseau, reported to be in the region of 1 million. “There are a lot of days when I don’t feel like getting out of bed,” Eboue, whose grandfather and brother both passed away in October, said. “One day I wanted to kill myself. My family keep me stron...

Jose Mourinho Slates Chelsea For ‘Defending A Lot’

Image
Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has spoken about his team’s title chances, playing it down because he believes ‘Chelsea will not drop a lot of points’. United are currently 13 points behind league leaders, Chelsea and Mourinho reckons it is  going to be ‘very difficult’ for his team to catch up. “You have to be honest and say that is very difficult,” the United manager said, when asked if his side could still win the title. “It’s not just the difference in points, it’s also the Chelsea philosophy of playing. “They score one goal and they win. They defend a lot. They defend well. They are winning and, in the last 20 minutes, they bring defenders in. “They don’t care what people say, what people think. They just want to win. And, because of that, I don’t see them losing many points.” “2017 will be better than 2016,” said Mourinho, whose side face Sunderland at Old Trafford on Boxing Day. “I think we are really together. There is a sense of unity between us and the fans. ...

Ephraim Mashaba sacked as South Africa coach for misconduct

Image
South Africa's FA (Safa) has sacked coach Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba for "gross misconduct". He was also found guilty of insubordination and violating communication policies. Mashaba was suspended last month after making strong comments about Safa president Danny Jordaan. "Due to the seriousness of [his] actions, we had to release our head coach with immediate effect," a Safa statement said. The incidents all followed South Africa's 2-1 win over Senegal in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on 12 November. That result left Bafana Bafana second in Group D on four points, behind Burkina Faso on goal difference. Only the group winners qualify for the finals in Russia in 2018. "It is regrettable that we had to face the events of the past month at a time when the National Team is experiencing a resurgence in its quest to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup", Safa chief executive Dennis Mumble said in a statement. However South Africa failed to qu...

Top Cameroon stars pull out of AFCON

Image
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are in total disarray ahead of next year’s AFCON in Gabon after as many as seven players on their 35-man provisional squad including Premier League stars Joel Matip and Allan Nyom opted out. Cameroon coach Hugo Bros raised the alarm over the availability of the country’s top stars for Gabon 2017. Liverpool defender Matip, Nyom from West Bromwich Albion, Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Andre Onana, Guy Roland Ndy Assembe of Nancy and Andre Zambo Anguissa from Olympique Marseille have withdrawn from the four-time African champions’ squad to Gabon 2017. Others who have opted out are Maxime Poundje of Bordeaux and Ibrahim Amadou from Lille. Matip has insisted on continuing his self-imposed exile from international football after his bad experience with the previous Indomitable Lions coaches, while Onana, Assembe and Nyom have put club before country so as to maintain first-team places at their various clubs. Poundje has opted to try his luck with France in...

Mikel seeks Drogba advice

Image
Mikel Obi has quizzed Chelsea legend Didier Drogba over a switch to Marseille. The Nigerian midfielder is heading out of Stamford Bridge. Mikel’s contract is up at the end of the season and he doesn’t look like getting a new one. He’s not played at all under Antonio Conte this season, and will want to get some games under his belt before the campaign is out. Marseille are one club credited with a new year swoop for the player. And the Evening Standard says Mikel has been quizzing pal Drogba about the French side. Drogba shone for Marseille before Jose Mourinho brought him to Chelsea for £24m in 2004. Mikel is said to respect the Ivorian’s opinion and has picked his brains about life at the Stade Velodrome. Marseille haven’t won the French league since 2010 and won’t be claiming top spot this term. They are lying sixth in the table, 16 points off leaders Nice. The club are regulars in European competition, though, which would allow Mikel showcase his talents in either the Eu...

FIFA’s Ethics Committee has opened proceedings against Nigeria’s Amos Adamu for an ethics violation, the world football governing body said on Tuesday. Adamu has already served a three-year ban from all football-related activities for accepting bribes in relation to the attribution of the 2018 World Cup to Russia and 2022 tournament to Qatar. He now faces another two-year suspension and 20,000 Swiss franc fine ($19,445, 18,724 euros) for further ethics violations, a FIFA statement said. An investigation into Adamu, a former FIFA executive committee member and West African Football Union president, was opened on March 9, 2015. A final report was passed to FIFA’s adjudicatory chamber earlier this month recommending a sanction, after which ethics committee chairman Hans-Joachim Eckert decided to open proceedings.
